This isn’t a food post, a picture post or an adventure post. It’s an ode-to-my-best-friend post.Tl;Not gonna read? I will return you to your regularly scheduled briefer ramblings later today.
Do you have a best friend? ‘Cause I do. Her name is AJ (not really, but that’s easier than saying “my friend” over and over). I’ve had good friends, great friends and other friends I have considered my “best friend.” But AJ is different. We met last November, and it was best-friends-at-first-sight. I already know we will be friends forever. Why? We are the same person. We text each other at exactly the same time:
And accidentally show up in the same outfit:
Yup, that happened for real. Didn’t even know she owned a similar shirt. I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to match your best friend after the age of 5.
We love the same books, the same shows and the same movies. But it’s more than shared interests. We can talk. About anything. I have shared stories, secrets and more with her that I haven’t told anyone else. And this is true for her as well. We always have fun, and I feel better about my self, my life and my quirks when I’m with her.
A Friend Night
I feel like something is missing if we go too many days without each other. So last night I got home from work and whipped up two batches of healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge (you know I couldn’t make a post without putting food in it somewhere). I took my fudge and a bottle of Gnarly Head zinfandel over to AJ’s, and we painted, drank and talked. And it was just what I needed.
I may be stressed from work or life, feel down about this or that or have lost a little confidence over the course of the week, but after an evening with AJ, it’s all good. I’ve never had a best friend like this before, and, while having a best friend means giving up some of the loner-life I value, it is worth it and more.
Who is your best friend? What is one of the many reasons why?
Great post! Truly good friends are worth everything… especially if they bring fudge, of course… 🙂
This is very sweet. 🙂 I think you’re right though. You have only a few “true best friends”, you can have tons of good friends, but the soul-sister friends are few and far between.
I’ve known my best friend since we were 11. We’re 40 now.
Really like your painting!
This is a great tribute post to AJ 🙂
my best friend is my best friend because I know she will never judge me.. She truly understands me and we laugh a lot together!
Dying at the thought of you ladies going out together in those almost-matching shirts. So funny!!!
BFFs are totally the best. I have a LDBFF at the moment (She’s in SD, and I’m here) but its the same kind of thing. Minus the matching tops.
I am jealous of your bestfriendship! In highschool I had a friend very similar – but also very different too. Right now I have a lot of close friends but I think my best friend is my boyfriend. We know each other toooo well sometimes!
Everytime I call my best friend she makes me laugh over the not so bad day I was having!
i love this! my best friend and i can fight one second and be laughing till our stomachs hurt a second later. we can tell each other everything and anything– and judgement? what is that. doesn’t exist with my best friend rachael 🙂 ps: thanks for your grad gift suggestions!!
OMG! you 2 are truly a match…love it! Seriously the same shirt? crazy! I love that you get together and paint…so fun!
What a lovely painting!! I love the way you and your friend spend time together 🙂
I used to have best friends, but I think that since moving into the big city, I have only friends and good friends, but I can´t call any of them “the best” ..
That sounds like a wonderful friendship! The chocolate peanut butter fudge sounds AlMoSt better though 😉
Good friendships are so important! I have 4 really really close friend that I concider my very best! An open communication is the most important thing to me!
Don’t you just love when you have that one person that can be there through thick and thin? Sounds like you guys are a perfect match! And those matching outfits are awesome =)
I have three best friends and they’re my best friends because we know everything about one another and we still like each other 🙂
Totally cliche but my BFF is my husband. Luckily we have yet to wear the same outfit 🙂
This post reminds me of my BFF in high school. We could read each other’s minds!
Your painting is beautiful.
Aw sweet post. I’ve known my best friend since first grade. We were together so much through elementary, middle and high school that people (including teachers) would refer to us a one person. We’ve both changed a lot since going to college, but I think we’ll always be close. 🙂
Ha I had a friend like that, our air teacher/mentor called us “abilena”. Once she started signing our hall passes that was it caught on with a lot of our teachers.
Aw, I just made a post about my best friend too… She and I have known each other since we were 5 and never would have been friends if we had met later in life. We’re pretty different but it works. Around her everything crappy and stressful in my life disappears we talk (mostly while aimlessly driving) we eat (not always the healthiest food) and we laugh. We’re so different but we take the other for who they are, and I think that’s what makes our friendship last, and I know it always will.
My best friend and I are the same soul in different bodies. We couldnt be more alike or more different. We havnt lived in the same city (timezone) for 10 years…but she might be moving to my town next month for school …eeek
