Last week I started Electra’s accountability challenge, and it’s time for an update.
You can never have too many sneakers…
Week One Challenge: Fitness Goals
Run my warmup mile in 8 min.
- 11/16: 7:58.
- 11/17: Rest day.
- 11/18: 9:30. Let’s not talk about this one.
- 11/19: 8:03.
- 11/20: Rest day.
- 11/21: 7:50!! This nearly killed me. Fabulous.
Add new moves into my workouts.
Tried out Plank jumps (I’m in love), box jumps and lunges with my foot on a bench.
Mental
Keep running. I bought a bunch of fabulous new warm gear…and then the crazy weather went from 35 degrees to 60 degrees. With thunderstorms.
Talk to strangers. This was the easiest goal–I knocked out my “make inane comments to two people” goal in one day. It’s surprisingly easy! Favorite conversation? Talked to a funky old man who turned out to be a professional chef for Second Harvest (a local food bank) and had a great discussion of local vs. organic while waiting in line at Trade Joe’s.
Do more artistically. Well, I bought a new canvas, so that’s a start, right? And I’m 35,000 words into my NaNoWriMo novel!
Diet
Cut out fake sugar. Gave all my fake sugar packets/baking products to my roommate, threw out some gum. And that was that.
Figure out an eating schedule. I’m still working on this, but I think this week’s challenge will help…
Week Two Challenge: Fitness Logging
This week’s challenge is to fitness/food log. It’s a good one for the holidays, and I went ahead and started yesterday, adding it in to my regular to-do list journal. Check out my penmanship. I believe this would have gotten me stoned in the 1800s. I certainly wouldn’t have found my true love through romantic handwritten missives…

Wow, 35,000 words! That´s amazing! Also great job on all your goals, seems like that challenge is going really well. I love plank jums too, one of my fave moves
Hey awesome job on the goals! Can’t wait to see what you end up making on your canvas, I absolutely LOVE art
Nice work on those challenges! I SHOULD start giving up fake sugar… *sigh* but Diet Coke and gum are kiiiiind of my lifeblood. Is that even a term? Did I make that up?
Ok I need more coffee
No reason why it can’t be a term. And coffee…that’s one I won’t be giving up any time soon.
Brave girl. I love my fake sugar too much to give it up.
I thought I did…and then found giving it up to be beyond easy. Surprised me, thought I have some slip-ups/miss it. It helps that it makes me feel not-so-good, though.
I really like how you’re breaking healthy choices down into smaller, manageable little steps with this challenge. You’re healthy to begin with, but there’s always room to improve in small areas…you’re making me think more carefully about the little ways I can improve too!
I definitely can’t make huge goals, I stick with them for maaaybe a day, but I’m finding these small ones surprisingly easy!
Great work on your challenges/goals
Love that sneak picture! I clearly need to add on to my one pair
And your times are awesome! I always have a hard time getting a decent pace on my first mile, while my bodies warming up.
I can’t keep up the pace if I run any farther, I think I have to crank it out before my body DOES warm up and realize what it’s doing
Oh I like this! And look at you! Great job!
Cutting out sugars is super hard! I’m happy for you!!
Great going on meeting your goals! I keep a food/fitness journal and find it very motivating…especially in overall run times, seeing the numbers pushes me to run even faster to beat my old time!
I’m looking forward to looking back at what I’ve done and trying to improve, something I’ve never really kept track of before.
You are so strong to give up fake sugar. I cannot give up gum. Also.. crystal light… even though it gives me mega headaches haha!
I was sort of shocked at how easy it ended up being. Although, a piece of post-coffee gum would be nice about now…
I just did that ab workout two days ago! Plank jumps are killer! Congrats on running faster! It’s amazing what happens when you challenge yourself!
If you’re so inclined MyFitnessPal was a decent food/exercise log when I was doing it (I still use it to calculate calories for recipes), and now I use DailyMile for the exercise part. I’m a tech junkie, though, and hate writing things down.
I think it just shows how much I WASN’T challenging myself–I seriously thought I’d have to work towards hitting 8 min, not already be able to do it. I used to use DailyPlate to keep track of food/exercise, but I’m bad at keeping it updated. I already write in my “journal” every day to make to-do lists, so I think just adding a little more will be the easiest path.
You’re a better person than me, let me tell you! Even the mental would wipe me out!
I love having goals to work towards. Great job cutting out the fake sugar. I’d rather have a small amount of the real stuff than gobs of the fake.
That’s how I feel about it! I’ll take real food over fake, and just use it in moderation.
Your doing great on your goals, and I love how your so proactive about them!
That’s some impressive progress in every area, brilliant! I love random conversations with random people – and your trainer collection – but I don’t think I’d love plank jumps. At all
I used to think I hated talking to strangers, but I’m having way too much fun with this
how great to write down your achievements! I need to go to gym more often
This is so inspirational to read! I love that you are cutting out fake sugar and am so impressed at your speedy miles. You go girl!
I am SO SO SO proud of you! LOVE how you’re using your blog as another accountability tool. You’re checkin’ things off already! Great job Allie! Keep working hard – it’s really paying off!
I love your goals..I’m always making lists and goals!! Definitely keeps you focused and moving forward.
