Wow, I love all the responses I got to my chicken post–you ladies are great! And no worries for those who are interested–I can assure you that many (many) more posts about chickens/chicken-owning will be headed your way. But today let’s take a step away from the domestic(ation of fowl) and toward, well, the domestic.
(Where) I Ate Wednesday
Remember what my kitchen looked like right before I bought my house? No? How about this reminder:
Now, don’t get me wrong: I love blood red walls, outdated window hangings, awkward furniture placement and knotty pine cabinetry as much as the next gal. However I really thought a different look might be more appropriate for me…
It still needs a few personal touches–but now I can cook fresh quality food, entertain in style and enjoy meals while sitting at a table with a proper place setting.
Or I can put in all the hard work needed to redo a kitchen…and then microwave a frozen dinner and sit on the patio…
Your kitchen looks FANTASTIC!!! Totally head over heels for the green in there, so cheery! π
I needed some neon somewhere in my life ;D
Oh GAH that first version is wretched! I love what you did with it! I’m so excited to be moving from a place with all white walls to a place where my bedroom is orange and brown…love having some color in the home! Your lime green is so festive π
Haha, wasn’t it awful?? There was so much wrong with that kitchen–it could have used a little less color, haha.
Looks great woman!! Congrats on putting in the hard work π
Thank you!
Your kitchen is SOOO you. Seriously! I absolutely love it!
I laughed at your last point LOL… or I can just sit outside and eat a frozen dinner :p
Haha, just because I have a nice kitchen now–doesn’t mean I have to use it. Laziness will still strike when and where it will! (Plus that frozen meal–an Amy’s tamale–was pretty darn delicious.)
*note to self* must check out your chicken post. I’ve wanted chickens forever! are you serious about that kitchen? That is amazing!!
I’d wanted them since buying my own place and having the opportunity–They’re great! And thank you π
Oh my gosh!!!! You’re kitchen looks AMAZING!!! I love the color, and the whole thing is a huge transformation!
Thank you! And yeah, it happened in so many stages, I’d sort of forgotten just how far it’s come/changed until looking back at the original pictures.
That kitchen looks so good! I love the green.
…and you can be completely proud of a (beautiful!) job well done! your kitchen is rockin, and I love the bright green! I love seeing before and after photos, so fun.
I am a little speechless about the first picture. Hmm. I would love to someday be able to decorate my OWN kitchen and not have everyone else’s crap cluttering my way. You’re living the dream! (I’m still laughing about that first chicken picture in your last post. It’s so cute!!)
Great new look!
You’re too funny! I do like the changes to the kitchen so far! Much brighter and more cheery!! Love it!
Thank you! I was going for bright–it has that huge window, and I wanted to take advantage of it (and not curtain it off…).
Love this. I really like your new kitchen and I can totally relate to working hard at something and then not using it π
Playing catchup!
So glad I didn’t miss the reveal of the new kitchen. It’s so, so, so, so, SO much better.
(still can’t get over how big your backyard is!)
I have a huge front one too, but it just doesn’t get used, unfortunately. Much nicer to have a little privacy.
Your hard work is certainly paying off, great job and looks wonderful!
What a change, you did a fantastic job! I bet you put a lot of work into, but like Tessa said amove, it certainly payed off! π
Thank you! And there was a lot of work involved–but most of it was just plain FUN work! Although–don’t expect me to refinish cabinets again any time soon π
oh my god. i DIE for your kitchen.
Oh WOW – i love your kitchen! If someone told me they were painting their kitchen lime green, I would have cringed but it really looks fantastic! As nice as it is to have painters to do the work for you, there’s something so much more rewarding about doing the work yourself (at least once it’s done).
Haha, I had some lime skeptics before I got started, but I tried to just use it as one bright pop of color, so it wouldn’t be too much. And it’s definitely a huge feeling of accomplishment to look at the final result and know I did it all myself!
Oh I love before and afters, your kitchen looks great, totally you! Your dinner reminds me of doing a huge grocery shopping trip and then being too tired to make anything so you eat out. I am not worried, I know that kitchen of yours will get tons of use.
Thanks Marie! And haha, I’ve done grocery shopping followed by dinner out before, too. The kitchen will definitely (okay, already has!) get lots of use, it’s my favorite room in the house. Helped by the fact that it’s the only completely finished room in the house ;D
Wow – I love the drastic change that you made in your kitchen – that green really pops off the walls! I’ve started to think about how I want to decorate the next house (since we’re moving), it’s weird to think about really. I still love the Italian muted style we have, but part of me feels like i should try something new too.
your kitchen is beautiful! i actually love the before and the after haha. but the after more! π
I am kind of obsessed with your kitchen colors
Love the green!
I adore white cabinets right now. I painted mine white, and it made a huge difference!
Ooh, I like the green touch! I don’t know why you didn’t keep those amazing curtains though… π
That dinner view looks perfect and I think it was only right to have the microwave meal, so as not to mess up the kitchen…! Looking forward to more chicken-related posts too π
Wow what a transformation! It looks absolutely fantastic, I really love it π I adore white kitchens and I think the accent of green is fab! Did you do the work yourself? Eating outside in beautiful weather is just lovely π
OMG I LOVE YOUR KITCHEN! Sorry for the caps lock but it was needed! What a great job!
Ok I could have sworn I commented on this post already?! Maybe it went to spam or I missed it?!?! Anyways – I love it! The space looks like a completely different house!!!
Wow…your kitchen looks AMAZING. I love the pops of green. Hope you have a great week.
I love the walls! Wasabi green! My camera is that same color.
