Weekends are amazing for all this and more:
Spending a night in a tent in the backyard.
Multiple meals consisting of PB&J crackers with homemade jam.
Used book shopping.
Fresh fruit at every meal.
Board games/card games.
What makes your weekend great?

Ooh, awesome scores at the bookstore! I can only buy my books used too – I read so quickly that I can’t justify plumking down $18 for something I’ll be done with in 2 hours. $1 each at Goodwill? That’s more like it!
Exactly! I can’t afford to pay full price…but if I can get all the books above for $14…instead of ONE book for $14…that’s completely doable.
Ummm wow, homemade jam, mouthwatering fruit and used books, you’ve just described my perfect weekend. Mine would also include a few hours to myself so I could read the books. And a clean house, a clean house makes me so happy.
I did get those few free hours to read! But I wasn’t at my house, so I had to come home to a dirty house. Immediate stress! I’ll fix that as soon as I get home from work.
Haha this is making me wish I had a yard… no camping in the alley way for me! haha
Well, alley camping COULD be an adventure…just maybe not of the most enjoyable sort…
Such a lovely weekend!
It really was…unfortunately, that doesn’t make Mondays any easier. Excuse me while I zone out and daydream of vegan gravy…
Oh, Oh…Books..Books…Ok…I have A Thousand Acres in my pile. I did City of Falling Angels on audio when I was still commuting and Loved it! Of course I had loved Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil too. I also got Last Night at Twisted River a few weeks ago…not in the pile yet…still in the car. I thought that Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet was one of the most touching books I’ve read in a long time. I’ll look forward to seeing what you think. I’m not familiar with the others but I’m sure you’ll let me know if there’s something I shouldn’t miss!
I hear A Thousand Acres is really good but really powerful–not a lighthearted read. I’ve bumped City and Hotel up on the order of “to read,” good to know they come with a positive review, makes it easier to pick up otherwise somewhat random books from the used book store. And you can bet reviews will be up here, and anything good will be raved about! Reading The Wild Girl right now and I’m really enjoying it.
I love shopping for used books/magazines – sometimes you find hidden gems
Board/card games would definitely make a perfect weekend for me! I love them, but unfortunately not many people I know like to play them
Yumm…that homemade jam looks great
I have so much trouble finding people to play, too! Luckily I can force my family to join in, and my best friend loves ‘em so as long as it’s a two person game we’re all set.
Yay for the weekend! I’m sad that it ended too. Little balls of melon = heaven.
What a perfect weekend indeed!! So many wonderful things you did Allie… board games are just the best and the homemade jam looks great
The melon balls look tasty!
You camped in your garden?! That’s amazing; I take my hat off to you and think I might have to go and buy a tent now… brilliant!
That jam looks great and I’m glad I caught sight of the comment above because I couldn’t work out what sort of fruit that was…
You should! All the fun of sleeping with a tent, but half the work of hauling camping gear around (plus great access to midnight snacks).
I think the snack access might just swing it…
That picture of the pb & j crackers is awesome- suddenly craving one! Your weekend sounds fun, loved that you camped out in your backyard
! Spending time with friends/family, not setting an alarm clock on Sunday, and leisurely workouts make my weekend great!
Mmm, they were SO good, I mean, I know i love PB&J, but these were even better than usual. And I like the sound of your weekend as well!
In college I lived on pb and crackers. I still bust it out for dinner every once in awhile haha.
Were you in the tent by yourself? I’ve done that with my sister. It’s still fun, even as an adult, to camp in the backyard. But by myself … way too scared. Killers!
Yup, just me, a sleeping bag, and a good book. And I wasn’t toooo scared until I opened up the tent to go pee in the middle of the night and a cat that had been sitting next to the door skittered away as soon as I stuck my head out. First thought was definitely soon-to-be-dubbed “Backyard Killer,” but nope…housecat.
I seriously love that you camped in your back yard by yourself! ha! You’re so independent!
Well thank you–and here I just thought I was a dork with a five-year-old’s sense of what would be fun to do on a Friday night
Wellllll maybe that too, but so am I!!
Is that Carcassonne? I just played for the first time over the weekend. Lotsa fun!
Good gaming eye ;D Yep, it is. My friends and I are absolutely obsessed with it, and its sort-of relative Settlers of Catan.
