Amazing, a Hugo/Nebula double winner for a reason. Children are bred and trained to become military leaders. Fitting, as my roommate and I were discussing our fear of prescient children shortly before I began this book (a conversation brought on by an ad for Shirley Temple DVDs, of all things). The story is, on the surface, a scifi piece but is more an exploration of morality and what it takes to create a real leader. Purchased the second in the series before even finishing this one.
