The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak

Books. Death. And the holocaust. Had a good sob at the end. Amazing story, great characters. I think most any reader would enjoy this one–as in, appreciate it for a good book. “Enjoy” is a hard way to describe a heart-wrenching holocaust story. This book focuses on a small German town and the non-Jewish Germans in it–a different angle than most books that tackle this topic. My coworker recommended it to me, and I immediately turned around and recommended it to my mom. It’s the sort of book you’ll want to pass along after you finish.
