How best to sum up my amazing weekend away? By telling you what I didn’t do.
I did not turn on my cell phone.
For two whole days. You know how nice it was not to have that constant contact? Makes me at least miss the days before smartphones. Being out of touch just felt good.
I did not use appropriate SPF-age.
The great thing about solitude? Naked sunbathing. The not so great thing about naked sunbathing? Sunburns in awkward places that otherwise don’t see the light.
I did not successfully make cookies.
These are gorgeous, right? And they were amazingly soft and well-textured. If only they tasted good. Or even if they tasted not-awful. However, pina colada cookies are too good of an idea to give up on. I will try again!
I did not stop reading.
3.5 books in 4 days. I’m going to go ahead and be impressed with myself.
I did not dance like someone could see.
I cranked up the crappy/awesome pop and hip-hop and shook it around the house. Trip over my own feet? Who cares. Have no sense of rhythm? Whatever. Look like I’m drowning out of water? Go for it.
I relaxed, but I didn’t relax as well as the cat.
But, really, can anyone compete with cats in the relaxation department? This used to be my cat, but he is clearly meant to be a country boy. His name is Gray Cat. My pet-naming services are free, if you’re interested.
Aww… grey-cat. That’s kinda cute. 🙂
I mean, do cats really respond to names anyway? I’ll just go for descriptive…
Looks like you had a wonderfully relaxing time. Put some aloe on that awkward sunburn….lest you end up with awkward peeling. 🙂
Don’t worry, lots of aloe has been applied 😀
You’re a girl after my own heart–awkward sunburns and awkward dancing!
It’s the only way to live!
I only sunbathe seminaked in foreign lands where no one can judge :), Im sooo addicted to my smart phone. its an issue
I considered my backwoods location to be foreign enough 🙂 And I thought I’d have a panic attack when I first turned off my phone…it really is an addiction!
Haha, great post- made me smile so much 🙂
Pina colada cookies is an awesome idea, hope they work out better next time 😉
You’ll definitely hear about it as soon as I manage a successful batch 🙂
cute post! Sorry about your sunburn. I’m super pale & sun-sensitive, so I could never risk sunbathing in my birthday suit, even if I had super high spf!
Speaking from recent experience…very smart of you
Loved your post and loved your weekend! I’ve had two past weekends of overnight guests and this upcoming weekend I’m doing exactly what you did!! I do hope you try out your cookie recipe again tho, cuz it sounds like it will be a pretty fabulous cookie!!
Ohh, enjoy your solitary weekend! It feels so good, especially after a lot of busy-ness.
I named my cat Blackie when I was 8. He’s now 20 years old!
You’ve inspired me to do a WIAW for tomorrow, btw..I’m taking super sweet cell phone pics of all my noms.
Woah, old cat! And I find Blackie to be an EXCELLENT cat name…
And I can’t wait to see your WIAW 🙂
How relaxing! Pina coloda cookies… keep me updated on those when you figure out a recipe ;)!!!
I will definitely be posting any successful efforts!
Haha, I love this post. I don’t know if I could go two days without my phone, but that’s probably a sign that I SHOULD! If I had gotten my act together earlier I was going to post about the kitten and ask for name suggestions, but maybe it’s good I didn’t;). Haha, just kidding:)
I didn’t think I’d make the two days either, but after day one it was easy and I didn’t want to turn it make on…
And I’m sure you would’ve gotten some interesting name ideas 😀
Hahah that’s awesome! I didn’t wear proper spf over the weekend… and now I have some funny tan lines. haha
I was trying to correct some of those odd tan lines…but it didn’t work so well
Haha, I used to be horrible at naming pets. Actually, I still am, but I like to think that I’ve improved a tiny bit. My first pet was a rabbit. Her name was Bunny. Groundbreaking, I know. Then I got Mitsy. I called my cat Mitsy because her paws look like silver mittens. I got another cat named Pablo, too. No story behind that one, really, though I was tempted to call him Patches but decided against it because he wasn’t really patch-y and I felt like it was too mainstream. HAH.
Hmm, I feel like naming a non-patchy cat Patches would be perfectly non-mainstream, especially if he was just one solid color, haha
lmao at grey cat. Love that. Sounds like the absolute perfect weekend to me!
Sounds like the kind of weekend I’m hoping to have coming up!
I loved the first thing you did not do! Two days without a phons sounds… heavenly!
3.5 books in 4 days? WOWWWWW!!!!
Congrats for keeping the cell phone off!
That looks like a great weekend! Good for you for keeping your cell phone off the whole time. That would be hard!
I just love the comment about naked sunbathing. And I’m jealous of the book reading. Soometimes a weekend alone is just what the doctor ordered.
We used to have a cat called Little Cat… maybe we should get together on the pet-naming front 🙂
