Mennonite in a Little Black Dress, by Rhoda Janzen

I will admit: I picked up this book with low expectations. And ended up pleasantly surprised. It’s an easy ready/summer read/memoir of a woman who leaves her Mennonite community, survives a disastrous marriage and moves on. Mennonite provides an interesting look at Mennonite life, as Janzen does not vilify the community and provides the reader with fabulous characters. It’s an upbeat book that you fly right through. If you’re taking a vacation any time soon, I recommend this book. If you want to expand your experiences or read deep literature, come back to this one later.
