When it comes to canned goods, you can buy some from the super sweet Mennonite girls in town.
(Fig Jam and Pumpkin Butter)
You can get some from your super sweet cannin’ Momma.

Mmm i want some pumpkin butter! And some peaches too π
Haven’t tried the butter yet, but I can go ahead and verify the peaches are DELISH π
I am a big fan of canned goods π Homemade jams, fruit butters, compotes etc., they are all so tasty! I want to try making some homemade pumpkin butter! And fig jam, but we donΒ΄t have fresh figs here..
The fig jam is going to be such a treat! I can’t make it here, either–figs are SO expensive, don’t know how the Mennonites do it
Wow that’s a lot of deliciousness! I’ve never tried canning any of my own stuff, but I got some apple butter from the farmers market last week and it was delicious!
I recommend giving canning a go someday, it’s such a feeling of accomplishment. And apple butter sounds goood. It was that or pumpkin, and I almost got talked into both.
Fig jam? Wow that sounds amazing. I’ve never canned anything before. It looks like I’m missing out!
Darn, I just need to learn how to do this canning! I’m seeing so many posts and your display of ideas really has me so tempted. Nothing can be better than homemade! I think I need Cannin’ Moma to stop by Florida!
I don’t think she’d mind a trip to FL π And canning is a great thing to do–it’s pretty darn easy once you have the basic (not at all expensive) equipment, and gives you tasty homemade goods for the winter (if you can wait that long)
We have a huge Amish and Mennonite community where I’m from, you can get the best apple butter ever from them. But I love home canning, some of my favorite childhood memories are going to harvest fruit (peaches, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.) with my family, then coming home and spending all day with my mom canning some and making jam out of the others. Nothing like homemade jam on toast in the morning.
Yay! You’re canning. Love it, love that you’re canning with your mom. I do not have Mennonite communities near me (that I know of) so no cool Mennonite canned goods for me.
I candied jalapenos this weekend. Yep, I went there.
Hope you had a good weekend.
When she suggested the canning adventures, I thought of your last canning post π And canned jalapenos sound amazing! I have ridiculous number of serranos–bet those would be just as great to have canned! Do you pickle them or just leave the flavor as-is?
I candied then, lots of sugar and a little apple cider vinegar and some other spices… I’ll post about it in a week or so when I can open one of the jars. They are on a 2 week mellow out~time out right now.
I’ve never canned, but in my hipster hometown there are always canning classes. Maybe I should consider.
It’s dorkily really fun, I recommend it–especially if you can take a class and don’t have to make the mess at home π
AWESoME!! I wish I knew how to can things… One day π
LOVE pumpkin butter. So many good things to make… I just need more TIME!!
The fig jam is making me drool.
I’ve never canned anything and now I want to!
Side note-ish – I used to make pumpkin butter & peanut butter “quesadillas” and they were baller. Now I need some pumpkin butter in my life.
Oh my god. Peanut butter + pumpkin butter “quesadillas” sound incredible!
My grandma always loads me up with tons of canned goods from her garden every year. It saves me the trouble!
A few years ago after going berry picking me and my mom made some jam and it was tons of fun. Haven’t done any since though!
