Arthur & George, by Julian Barnes

This book is fiction, but it is based on real events in the lives of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and a mislabeled criminal named George Edalji. This book seemed to get a little lost or off-track towards the end, but I love this look at the man behind Sherlock Holmes. Doyle was an interesting man who was in love with two women, used his popularity to support seemingly lost causes and was interested in spiritualism.

Arthur & George was fun, interesting and a book that pulls you in. The end drags on a little, and the last section seems unnecessary, but I overall enjoyed reading this and would recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction or learning more about the authors behind the stories.
