Swamplandia!, by Karen Russell

This book revolves around a family who is slowly falling apart and sinking into the swamps of Florida. Russell is good at making you think her story is going one way before abruptly yanking you around and taking you somewhere else. She walks the line between reality and fantasy without tipping into the unreal, yet she keeps you aware that the other world is there, just inches away. I enjoyed this book, but it isn’t one I’d consider a “must-read” or that I’d necessarily pass along to friends.
