For those of you who read the title of this post and were expecting Astronaut Ice Cream (does that still exist?)…I apologize. Instead, you get things growing in the dirt.
Just a week ago my garden looked like a large brown rectangle, but my seeds have taken off!
Beets. I was worried about these suckers, but it turns out a few are going to grow after all. Soon(ish) I can make beet curry with homegrown beets!
Beans. Beets, beans, Battlestar Galactica.
Collard greens. Turns out I’m a Southern gal after all.
Corn, zukes, cukes, okra and turnips all look great as well. My interior housework/redecorating may have taken a backseat to outdoor gardening, but it will all be worth it when I get fresh homegrown goodies!
And the most important future food of all? Ethiopian tonight for an early Mother’s Day celebration. And by early Mother’s Day celebration I mean my dad wants to buy a motorcycle from the town next to me, so they are driving over this evening to check it out and to grab some exotic food while they’re at it–their small town is as ethnically diverse as one Chinese buffet, one Taco Bell and a Papa John’s. Fine dining.
