Yesterday’s WIAW was full of sauciness, and I got some saucy requests for recipes. Which I will cater to, because I love sauce. I’m a dipping/dunking fanatic. And while ketchup is the one true love of my life (and sriracha is my mistress), sometimes I decide it will be okay to switch up flavors/eat something that has nutritional value. So yesterday? I mentioned some new favorites: Curry “yogurt” sauce and nutritional yeast “I-refuse-to-compare-it-to-cheese” sauce. These are so simple and quick–all you need for a meal is veggies to dunk or grains to drown.

Curry “Yogurt” Sauce

Curry “Yogurt” Sauce

  • 1t Curry powder
  • 1/4 block Lite silken tofu
  • 2t Lemon juice

Blend. Dunk. Enjoy. Yours will be smoother than mine, if you have a real blender. Add some chili powder, if you like things hot. Perfect for veggies, falafel, flatbread and more.

Seitan “sausage” plus cauliflower and dip.

Nutritional Yeast Sauce

Nutritional yeast is nutritional yeast. It is delicious, I love it, it is not cheese. Accept it for what it is. And accept that it still makes an amazing substitute for mac n’ cheese when stirred into quinoa.

Nutritional Yeast Sauce

  • 1/4c Nutritional yeast
  • 1/2-1t Onion powder
  • 1t Balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2c Almond milk
  • 1/8t guar gum OR 2T flour

Whisk together (over heat if you are using flour, in any old bowl if using gum), wait for it to thicken, dump on food. Or dump food in.

What’s your favorite sauce?
