I’m taking this What I Ate Wednesday to celebrate my Tuesday eats, and the glory of food as fuel.
(Okay, so there are no visible veggies in the post. But there is fruit. Close?)
—
Food: Scrambled eggs with cranberry, peanut sauce and toast. Plus coffee.
Fueled: An early morning repainting project. My guest room is on its way toward looking so much better and so much less awful-sage-green.
—
Food: Dark chocolate-covered pomegranate seeds.
Fueled: Good feelings about life. Relaxation with a good book, treats and tea.
—
Food: Larger-than-head-sized burrito from an amazing (if sketchy) food stand in my fabulously hispanic neighborhood.
Fueled: Bafflement at my ability to put away this much food in ten minutes. A delightful food-coma-nap. A desire to hit up Mexican food stands more often.
—
Food: Greek yogurt topped with banana.
Fueled: An evening dance party for one. Talking to old friends on the phone. A good night’s sleep.

What’s your food been fueling?
Oh man, the south seriously has some really amazing Mexican food. The big life question is: What is inside the burrito?! Inquiring minds must know!!!!
Amazing Mexican-bbq-flavored rice (I don’t know how else to explain it, since “rice” is boring, but this was anything but), lots of lettuce and tomato, THIN layer of refried beans (as burritos should be, if you ask me, I don’t want squishy mouth-fulls of bean, thank you very much). And oh man, real, fresh tortilla. And those sauces! Neither is salsa, the red is all smokey, spicy amazing, the green was cool, creamy, refreshing. Mmm, I could write a book about this burrito…
That sounds amazing! When we were in SF, we had this tomatillo/avocado saucy thing that was soooo delicious. Sounds similar!
That burrito looks amazing!! The bigger the better in my food world!! 🙂 I have been fueling up on kabocha and brussels (shocker!) which I am sad to say, are starting to taste like they are going out of season ;( Happy Wednesday Allie!
Argh, I still need to get kabocha back in my life! And mm, volume eating is heaven…Probably shouldn’t eat a plate-sized burrito every day, but when I do? Makes me happy.
I was going to be sad from the title of this because I thought that meant you were going to eat not-so-good food. *deep sigh of relief*
Burritos are the shit. Sometimes literally… beans, beans… 😉
Haha, luckily this one was super-light on the beans, since they aren’t exactly my friend. But mmm, heavy on the delicious.
Dark chocolate pomegranate seeds?!?! That sounds amazing! And burritos from shady Mexican joints are a must. They are the best tasting–because they’re authentic!!
They were a complete treat! I didn’t really know what to expect, but figured you can’t go wrong with dark chocolate-covered-anything. And yup, this was the real deal, no bland chain-brand burrito.
scrambled eggs with cranberries? never would’ve thought of that, but now I must try it.
It’s definitely a fun combo, I like the addition of tart to eggs.
I second Alex’s question: what’s inside the burrito! I also posted about a burrito today 😀
You need to put the eggs + cranberry on the strange but good link up!
I was commenting on your post while you were commenting on mine, it seems. Inside the burrito? Heaven. Pure REAL Mexican heaven.
And it would totally fit the link-up, especially since it’s just a riff on all of Laura’s peanut butter & fruit scrambled egg combos.
That looks like some pretty awesome fuel!
I have actually never had a burrito before but that looks mighty tasty
Woah, never had a burrito?? You are missing out! And if you are anywhere near a Hispanic neighborhood, you are missing out on massive quantities of food for super cheap–that burrito was “technically” enough food for two good-sized meals, and only $4! (Okay, if you make your own it’s even cheaper–I mean, Mexican-spiced rice and beans in a tortilla? Yeah, that’s good food for us frugal folk ;D )
Those dark chocolate pomegranate seeds looks amazing!!
I forgot about some yams in the oven a few days ago and they got woefully overcooked, too mushy to just eat, so I’ve been adding them to muffins and oatmeal and eggs. I never throw food away, can’t do it.
Since my wisdom has been removed :-). I have been enjoying some African peanut soup and lots of smoothies! I love peanut sauce and those dark chocolate pom seeds are so delicious, I may have to buy some when I can chew again :-). Love + Shine Courtstar
That burrito looks amazing!! Haha I love your description of what it fueled too. Never a dull moment over here!
A dance party sounds great right about now. So about that breakfast- do you dip the bread in the peanut sauce? I’m all about peanut flavors anyway I can get them! Also I love burritos- no shame in tackling that bad boy so quickly. I’d do the same!
I think fruit counts. I give you a pass, although I have no power to do so.
I love eggs (no surprise) and can’t wait to see the new guest room.
I am fueling tonight with a glass of wine to relax after a long day at work. Three hour Team building seminar today.
Dark chocolate-covered pomegranate seeds. Woaa, I want some of that stuff 😛 You know what’s weird, when I had a burrito in Mexico it was unwrapped. It still had all the same ingredients, but just wasn’t wrapped. Weird! Nothing beats food from shady places 😛
That burrito is about the size of your head… I’m super impressed you were able to down it in 10 minutes. Major props
love the dark chocolate! I’ve been loading up on sweet potato and chobani!
High fives for burrito inhalation. It’s my favorite!
(Why have you disappeared on Instagram again? I miss seeing your eats!)
Could I join you for the day above? Those eats look fab – I loveddd adding fresh cranberries into my eggs all throughout the winter… Too bad I can’t find them anywhere anymore
I think the cranberries and eggs should have been Strange But Good, but it actually sounds good to me…yum…
Peanut butter + cranberries is one of my favorite, underutilized combinations. If I currently ate eggs, I would definitely go for this totally strange (but I’m guessing awesomely good) combination.
I really need to find out where Mexican restaurants get their burrito tortillas. I mean, there is something so darn delicious about the thin, stretchy tortilla that you can never find anywhere else.
