It’s fitness Tuesday time, and the accountability challenge continues!
GOALS
Goal: Keep my warmup miles under 8 minutes.
- 11/30: 9:01
- 12/1: 7:42!!
- 12/2: 8:15
- 12/3: 15 min stairmill=3 minute mile as far as I’m concerned
- 12/4: 9:22
I’ve lost some of my consistency, but I’ve also been playing around with my overall workouts/structure, so I’m not horribly disappointed by a couple of lazy days (in terms of running). And the fact that 9 minute miles now seem lazy to me?? Fabulous.
Goal: Add in new exercise moves.
Tricep dips on the stability ball, pushups on the stability ball, pike roll out
Goal: Keep running in the morning.
I pushed myself out the door two mornings in a row despite 40 degrees and drizzly rain. And it actually felt great this morning!
Goal: Log my workouts.
Continued success! And I continue to love how it makes me push myself.
GEAR
Remember how, oh, only a few weeks ago I posted this collection of my sneakers?
The collection has grown. In my defense, they are to wear at work, and the pink and black Izumis have since migrated to the trash due to a lack of remaining tread.
But oh, the shopping didn’t stop there. Curses on you, Target, for catering to my weaknesses for neon clothing and inappropriately small shorts.
And then my beautiful mother was in town for a shopping trip, and she picked these up for me! My favorite rice protein powder plus a new adventure–hemp protein powder.
I may or may not be snacking on a protein-powder based treat right now–recipe to come!
Do you get as excited as me about new stuff? What’s your favorite recent purchase?
Congrats on the fast mile times! That pike roll out looks intense. I think I’ll try it in my next workout. This may or may not go well. 😉
Target–I can never leave without buying something too. What is it with that store?
Favorite recent purchase– biscoff spread.
I definitely wasn’t as steady as the girl in the video–I don’t know how people use stability balls…stable-y? And Target is just genius like that, you can’t walk away without neon sportswear. Or new nailpolish. Or enough food for the next month. I think the secret is their ability to fit everything you could ever want into one store…
I love the neon! OK, I have to laugh when I see Manitoba Harvest. I really love their company…but I honestly don’t really like protein powder. It tastes weird. (IMO, this applies to ALL protein powder). When I was new to twitter I tweeted someone to recommend Manitoba Harvest hemp powder if they wanted something that tasted bad…and then Manitoba Harvest started following me back and tweeted me something polite and friendly. I still cringe to think about it. So embarrassing! I have since learned to keep my snark OFF of twitter.
I definitely have to spruce up my protein powder…my roommate mixes his with water only, which sounds utterly gross, but he also uses sweetened chocolate whey protein so maybe it’s not as foul as I imagine? Add enough banana and it all tastes delicious 🙂 Or bake it into bars–I was hesitant about how the hemp protein would taste, but it’s good in savory-style things.
Yay for new stuff! I can’t wait to see this recipe 😀
It’s on its way! I’ve made it twice already, just have to decide if I want to make a third batch with some options for change before posting.
Of course I get excited about new stuff! It makes working out that much more fun! I have that same sports bra in…black. I’m not nearly as exciting as you, but I think your love of neon colors more than makes up for it. My favorite recent purchase is two new all-clad fry pans from Williams-Sonoma that I might have bought this weekend while I was a little more inebriated than I wanted to be. The best purchases are made in those kinds of states, right?
I ❤ the stairmill! Keep it up!
I went grocery shopping while tipsy once. And it was the most amazing thing ever. I’m just glad there wasn’t a Williams-Sonoma nearby.
And I also own that sports bra in black and gray, so I have my boring gym days, too 😀 And I want to get better on the stairmill, but the gym here only has three of them and they are pretty much constantly in use unless I go at really odd hours on the weekend. Which I did on Saturday.
You’ve got yourself a lot of running shoes!
I sure do! But I need my street running pair, my gym cross-trainers, my trail runners, my work sneaks…see? Completely justifiable ;D
Ohhhh my gosh, every single time I go to target I end up with 10 things I didn’t plan on getting! haha but new workout clothes are great motivation
I always hate when I check out and they ask if I found everything…yes, I found everything and then thirty more things on top of that, thanks for asking…
I LOVE new stuff! I’m about to buy myself a new, bigger crock pot. CVS has them on sale and I can’t wait!! Then I can make big batches of chili without burning it!! Love the purple sneakers! Those came from Target??
Nope, those were from a sports store…that happens to be next to Target. Which is why I wandered in afterwards and ended up with more gym stuff 😀
I love getting new running shoes and always feel like I can nearly fly my first run in them!
Same here, my first runs in new shoes seem so easy and light!
How did you like the Pearl Izumi kicks? Did you use them for running? I really like their biking gear…I’m especially curious in comparison to Nikes, since that’s what I currently run in.
Sent you an e-mail about the Izumis 🙂
Oh I most def. get excited when it comes to new things! I actually find new workout clothes uber motivating when it comes to getting my butt to the gym. I have to try it out after all right?!?
Exactly! Gotta go show off my new clothes 🙂 Plus I’m way too much of a gym regular and have a rather limited gym-clothes-selection, so I feel like it’s extra obvious when I’m wearing something new, haha.
Wow, you’re rocking this fitness challenge – 9 minute miles seeming slow now is brilliant! And I don’t know what a stairmill is so the three-minute mile is amazing 🙂
I get far too excited over new products too, although I do tend to stick with old favourites when it comes to breakfasts and lunches…
Stairmill=stair master, if that’s helpful. The stair version of a treadmill, and holy cow, it is NOT easy. I sweat on that thing like nothing else…attractive, right?
Wow, I’m not surprised! Serious respect for that 🙂
