This has been a trying week, to say the least.
I tried to get my car fixed.
But have so far paid $650 to get it not fixed.
I tried couponing.
And saved $13.33–34% off of my grocery bill. That almost makes up for that repair bill, right?
I tried Barbara’s Puffins.
I haven’t heard a bad or even mediocre word about this cereal. Well mediocrity get ready, because my review? “Meh.” The texture was average-ish. There was no taste. I had to ADD cinnamon. To cinnamon cereal. Maybe the PB or chocolate versions are better? Well, I’m not spending another $5 on a box to find out. Back to PB&J oats in the morning!
I tried not to get too excited.
…about new (and used) books in the mail.
I tried to relax-ercise.
If I’m walking, I want to be power-walking. If I’m power-walking, I want to be running. In an effort to slow myself down, I’ve taken upΒ books-on-tapeMP3. I’m listening to The Last Unicorn (since it’s on this list), and each chapter is 25-30 minutes, the perfect amount of time for an evening walk through the neighborhood. I’m three chapters in, so far so good! It makes for a great conclusion to a day, no matter how trying it may have been.
What have you tried lately?
My husband loves Puffins. I don’t get the appeal.
Cereal that is good: EnviroKids. It’s made by Nature’s Path and it’s like… all natural versions of normal kid cereal (so you have all natural cocoa crispies and whatnot.) delicious. and you can pretend it’s also good for you!
A lot of people seem to love them, maybe we’re just missing something? I like the sound of this enviro-kids business, though. And I’ll pretend any cereal is good for me π
Good for you for trying to use coupons!!! I always have the best intentions, but then I Forget them at home!! I could definitely save some $$ that way!
Sorry to hear about your car π¦ I hope it gets fixed!
I usually forget, too. This was first conscious effort to go in and specifically coupon shop, and it was definitely worth it.
I am sorry about that unsuccessful cereal experiment π¦ Well, maybe next time you have better luck π Oh, new books, I hope we get some reviews soon π I never tried couponing, but hey, you saved a lot of money π
Lately I have tried frozen plums (quite a successful attempt), millet for breakfast (not bad, but I still like oats better), coffee (mhhh..letΒ΄s remain silent about this experience π
Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be sharing everything I’m reading π And frozen plums sound good! I’ve never had millet, but oatmeal is just so cheap, easy and tasty that it’s hard to switch.
Millet is actually much cheaper in my country. Probably because I am the only one eating it here :)))
I love honest product reviews and while I’ve never heard of the cereal I’ll know to avoid it when it appears in stores here. This is my first visit to your blog but I’ll be back. I really enjoyed the time I spent here. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary
Thanks for stopping by! And I kept hearing such good things that I felt I had to track it down…oh, well–everyone has different tastes.
Funny! My savings on my grocery bill yesterday was also 34%.
Hmm, must be a good average of how much coupons’ll save you!
Yuck about the car.
I’m an avid couponer. When I can find worthwhile coupons.
I think that’s why I had such good luck with savings–managed to find a bunch for products I actually needed/regularly buy. Usually it won’t save me money, since I end up buying things I won’t use.
Never had cinnamon puffins but the pb ones are good. I wouldn’t have bought them though it I didn’t get them for 2.50. Ew about your car, aren’t they such pains?
I’ve tried liking work. It’s not working.
I would much prefer to walk or jog! If only work was a 20 min drive away. With no road-shoulders.
And at least you gave the liking a go?
Ugh, sucks about the car. I hate when that happens.
I kind of dig this relax-ercise idea. I should do that for my dog walks!
Cereal can be so hit-or-miss, and SO expensive. It boggles the mind. I totally have a HUGE box of toasted oats whole grain cereal (aka plain Cheerios) in my desk. I eat them dry, out of a cup, like a child. It’s so fun.
I highly recommend it! It really makes you take a minute to yourself, and not spend it running loops of thought in your head (which is what happens to be typically when I try to take a walk).
Aaand I will take snacky dry cereal over cereal with milk any day π I love cereal, but hadn’t bought it in forever due to that cost thing. I mean, $8 for 10lbs of oatmeal, or $3 for 16oz of cereal? Hmm…
Hopefully that car gets fixed soon! Repairs are always a buzzkill =)
Wow, you have been trying a lot of new things recently! I haven’t really tried anything significant this week!
I really like the pb puffins, but dislike the chocolate ones. The cinnamon are average but not worth the big bucks! (I mean seriously, 5 bucks for cereal?!)
Sorry about your car. Vehicle repairs are the worst- always unexpected and unplanned for.
Yay! for coupons! I havent tired anything new in a while, quite obviously I am in a rut
listening to audio books on walks sounds so relaxing, great idea! i’m “trying” to intuitive eat and it’s so hard! any advice please send it my way π thanks in advance!
I love the idea of listening to books while walking. Yesterday, I actually tryed reading while walking π I guess it would be eastier (and more normal-looking) to just listen to my book instead π
So sorry about your car! I hate to waste money like that!
As you know, I have tried dairy lately! Im not sure how I feel about it yet, Im kind of an emotional mess at the moment. But Ill try to at least give it a chance!
Haha, I’ve tried reading while walking too! Too much bouncing though, I can never focus on the words without getting a headache. Audio books are the way to go π
In my opinion, only the peanut butter puffins are worth eating. The other ones are okay, but a box of peanut butter puffins doesn’t last a day in my house.
I really need to read The Last Unicorn. I grew up with the movie, but I’m sure the book is even better.
I’m really enjoying listening to it, plus it’s read by the author, which I always love. Hmm, if there’s ever a mega-sale I might give PB Puffins one last try
Sorry to hear about the car – sounds awful!
i love to listen to books while exercising!! i agree with your puffins description.
Sam @ fitness food & faith
I like the pb puffins but the other flavors do tend to be pretty “meh”. I agree on the lack of flavor part fooooorrrr sureee!
LOVE this “Thursday Tries” post, so honest and so cute!
